Abies Ventures Fund II Investment Limited Partnership has invested in Nichietsu Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “Nichietsu”), which aims to realize fully automated factories through heavy load transport robotics for transporting molds and other heavy objects.

As factory automation progresses, the transportation and exchange of dies & molds remain one of the slowest areas in terms of automation. Factories are facing severe labor shortages, leading to a decline in productivity. Furthermore, in many molding and other factories, the transportation and exchange of molds are still performed manually using cranes, resulting in long production line downtimes and industrial accidents, including fatalities.

Nichietsu has already developed the world’s smallest/fastest automatic mold exchange system, with a proven track record of deliveries to numerous leading companies in various industries such as automotive, automotive parts, medical, precision machinery, home appliances, and control equipment. Furthermore, the company is developing autonomous mold exchange systems and other equipment, aiming to achieve complete factory automation.

The challenges associated with mold transportation and exchange in factories are global. We believe that Nichietsu’s products can be sold not only to overseas production facilities of Japanese companies but also to overseas manufacturing companies. As a VC aiming to create global deep tech unicorns originating from Japan, we will support Nichietsu’s sustainable growth through this investment.
